Scrappy Hobo Bag construction
Below, you'll see the step by step construction of the hobo bag. Remember that you can pause the video when you come to a frame that you need to view longer. Be sure to have your screen as large as you can get it. I covered each raw seam on the inside with a sort of binding made out of a 2 1/2" piece of fabric, folded as bias tape is folded. This is sewn down over the inside seams and the bottom seams so they will not fray. I used a tight zigzag stitch for attaching the shoulder straps. The two top brown "squares" are sewn together with the same type zigzag stitch for strength. Adjust the length of the straps to fit your height. I made a loop for the button out of braided cording and sewed it on by hand. The tassle is not attached to the purse, but just looped over the button. These bags will make nice Christmas presents! Happy sewing! and Happy Days!
